  1. Resolved Question: Guys (and girls!), help me out please?
  2. 30 May 2008 at 9:20pm
Ok, so I hate to admit it, but I am having relationship troubles with my fiance. He doesn't make me happy anymore, and no matter what I try to do for him, he still is an asshole. I love him still, but I don't think I'm "in love" with him anymore. I have been with him for 3 years though, and it's been awhile since I've been single, so it's kind of a scary thought. Right now he's in boot camp for the Marines, and he's nice right now in his letters, but I'm afraid that he won't change and he says he will, but that's easy to say since he's not here and he won't see much while he's in the service. We are due to get married on July 21, 2008, so I am running out of time. Everyone thinks he is Mr. Perfect, and he can be, but no one has seen him like I have...and I have my faults too, but I don't feel happy anymore. I want to give him another chance but I've told him so many times what I need but he always says he will change when I change and that it's my self esteem. I am scared of losing him, but I am also scared that he will never make me happy again. What am I supposed to do? Serious answers only please. I am also scared of being alone....it's been over 3 years since I've been on the market... I'm also scared that maybe he is the right person for me and I will realize that too late. I want to talk to him about this, but I'm afraid he will get really mad and just dump me himself. I also don't want to bring him down while he's in boot camp of all places.

Being a Marine I know why I became a Marine and what sets me apart from any other service member... I want to know why other Devil Dogs believe they are better then other branches... OORAH!!! damn good answer wulfen... gave me chills reading that... I am motivated as hell right now... This feed back is for you there highly motivated SGT H... You imply this is a stupid question with your remarks about how there is no competition within the services... First off I served in both Afghanistan and Iraq 3 tours all together totaling 24 months so I most likely have more time in those countries then you do in the army... So don't dare wirte like you are the only combat veteran on yahoo because you will be mistaken... My question was not as to who is the best, it kindly states what sets us apart from other branches.... I will clearify exactly what sets us apart from other branches right now, it is the fact that Marines love to compete we love to be number one... We are the best, we are trained by the best and we are raised to understand why we are the best... We do not need to put other branches down and tell them they are inferior because we as well as all other branches already are aware of this fact... Marines love to be Marines we are proud to where the title and... uphold the title.... and most of us pray for the moment when we may defend our title... We are nations security blanket, not the army or the air force or the navy... Lets not forget that the Army was created before the Marines and if they could honestly do the job we would have never been created... So lets not get into a battle as to whon is best becuase everyone out there already knows that no one can hold the d*c^ of a Marine exceapt for a soldiers wife...

  5. Resolved Question: Recruiting Question??
  6. 29 May 2008 at 11:02pm
My niece was discharged from the Marines for failure to adapt to the marine corp way of life after 7 months of boot camp. She can rejoin the USMC in 2 years. She is currently trying to join the Army National Guard. Her NG recruiter told her she had to sign a 4 year contract. Her Marine recruiter told her today they have a 2 year active duty option with 6 years inactive. At that time she can go active in another branch. She needs to know the truth. Does she need to sign 4 years w/ the NG or can she go with the 2 year option and then join the USMC like she really wants to? Thanks for your help! For those who have served THANK YOU for you service. The American military is the best!!!!!

  8. 29 May 2008 at 3:53pm
referring to oneself in the third person, getting physically abused behind closed doors, this is some of the dumb stuff that is done in Marine boot camp. it is no wonder not many intelligent people chooses to go in this branch of the service, preferably going to the air force or navy for more technical fields. the Marine Corps is full of a bunch of bullies who preys on weak recruits to make them look tough and besides all this the Marines are the most racist of all the services. why would anyone want to join the Marines?

  9. Resolved Question: Becoming an officer after 4 years Marine enlisted...?
  10. 29 May 2008 at 3:48pm
My husband is thinking of going through the Officer program after his 4 years of enlisted service are up (Jan 2010). I don't know anything about this-- and he is currently training out of state for a month and I can't talk to him. Let me know anything you know about this-- this is a decision that will effect us for at least the next 10 years and I want to know everything I can before doing anything. Do you get a re-enlistment bonus for doing this? I know officers don't get them-- but I wasn't sure for this. Can you live anywhere while going to school? What is your rank after getting out (O-1E, O-2E)? Are you automatically going to be an infantry officer or what other officers are out there? Anything else you may know I would love-- thanks!!

  11. Resolved Question: I want to separate from my husband of 4 years how do I get...
  12. 29 May 2008 at 11:37am
I married him because he was going into the marine corp he said he cared for em and would provide I felt adequate and trusted him. I went ahead and now he got kicked outo f the service 21/2 years ago, he doesn't bathe, work or do anything but live off my check from the state...It was only suppose to be temporary until he got back on his feet. it has been 2 years and I'm feeling drained, depressed he goes on redlight center.com to you-know-what and look for women. I tell him to leave and find someone who'll take of him. but NY prohibits me to kick him out. Being I get a check I could get HUD and do it on my own. How do I leave him? I really do not want to be with him. He eats my food, sleeps on my couch all day. I lost my car b/c I could fork the bill. HELP! open the front door and walk out... made me laugh so hard..let me check my draws...listen it is not that easy. my furniture is here, i pay the rent and he will be behind me if I try to take my possessions. just for the record, I have a disability and he and I married 3 mos of meeting each other. according to his father afterwards he said, He is not going to provide for you. and he is not supportive of me and I have been in danger before by an aggressive individual and he shyed away and never handle it for me it was a guy who wasn't very nice. and I thought to myself I don't need this. he talks down to me in front of people. and the sickness and health give me a break give me a better answer then that we are in 2008. men screw around and cheat but i have ot be humble wife and allow to be unhappy? give me a break. no I'm leaving the son of a bitch. another thing his family cut him off. recently I found out through the grapevine the reason is b/c he took advantage of his niece..sexually and he lived off his older folks (65 yrs old his mother who is really his great aunt) so everything was a lie.

  13. Resolved Question: How fast do Air Force Combat Controllers promote?
  14. 29 May 2008 at 2:23am
I am a prior service US Marine who is now enlisting in the Air Force as a Combat Controller. Just wondering how fast this field typically promotes since it seems to be a smaller field.

  15. Resolved Question: Nearly 50% rise in PTSD cases. Your view?
  16. 28 May 2008 at 11:07pm
Personally I don't think the numbers are telling the whole story or even part of it. "The figures, encompassing all four branches of the U.S. armed services, showed that the Army alone had 10,049 new PTSD cases last year." I really wonder what constitutes PTSD by the health care providers applying the diagnosis. For example, during the first 4rth of July after my return from Iraq the fireworks noise and flashes in the distance reminded me of firefights and major offensive operations I took part in and it made me feel uneasy and on edge. The following year......nothing. Would I have been diagnosed with PTSD at the time? "The totals include 28,365 cases for the Army, 5,641 for the Marines, 2,884 for the Navy and 2,476 for the Air Force." 2,884 for the Navy? Really? Yes I know they are there too but how many combat operations have they participated in? What do you think? What are your views? http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSN2736842620080527?feedType=RSS&feedName=to pN I should have finished my thought by saying I don't feel that the high numbers are as bad as they seem.

  17. Voting Question: What is it like to be a military wife?
  18. 28 May 2008 at 9:38pm
My boyfriend is a marine and he wants to get married after his first 4yrs of service. Im curious about what it would be like to be his wife. I mean, im still young and in high school and he hasn't left to basic training yet but he is going to on June 2nd. We are inlove with eachother and we've been together since I was 12 and he was 14. Also, I have plans to go to college and to get a masters degree but how would I be able to take care of my career if im moving from base to base. Would I be able to fulfill my dreams too? Oh, how did you handle it when your love left to basic and to war and all? Do you get rules on what you can and can't send letter wise? Im just kinda clueless about what its like to be a military wife and what it will be like to have a boyfriend at basic. Please understand and not think that im too immature to be inlove and to think about marriage. I know that im young and im trying to be realistic but I do love him and I want to be with him forever.

  21. Resolved Question: my brother lies about his recent military service. help?
  22. 27 May 2008 at 6:11pm
my step brother was kicked out of the navy for several reasons. when he came home he tells everyone in town that he had been in iraq and killed a bunch of people and saw his best friends head get blown off etc... i know for a fact that none of it is true. the real slap in the face to all vets (myself included) is that he also just joined the marines! i feel they should know about him! he is a true psychopath. i have known him all his pathetic life and he is the type that will say or do anything. he surely cannot be an effective asset...in fact he could flip out and hurt his own guys! any suggestions. also, if you dont have now or in the past some affiliation with the armed services or legal ties that can give me an educated answer...thank you but dont bother! i have been thinking about this for many months.... trust me, your no more insulted than i am! thanks. ok, he got an o.t.h. or medical, i think. he nor his mother will say. all i know is that he was home about 2.5 years sooner than expected. i do know that he got a d.u.i on base in san diego. i confronted him during the holidays and i wanted to do it in front of the family at xmas but he left before i got there. my dad had serious reservations about me doing it too because he is married to his mother... i think you can understand? he has been in the marines for about 3-4 months now and is in missouri now and i hear he is engaged! sad... she has no idea, i'm sure! have served in the first gulf war and consider my four years my greatest accomplishment... he makes me sick! thank for all your answers! see people ole' "buckeye bill" with the helpfull commentary below is the type i did'nt want to hear from. he was probably released a little early himself! if your not an honorably discharged vet or current service member... i dont expect you to understand my frustration with this.

  28. 26 May 2008 at 9:53pm
I've read some books recently that have said that the other services generals are always yelling at the marines to slow down, so that people can catch up! Why dont the other services just copy the marines?? BTW, I am not degrading the other services, I am just stating the truth! Look it up! I LOVE MY MARINES!!! RESEARCH ANY BOOK ON THE AMERICAL DIVISION IN VIETNAM WHERE THE ARMY PAIRED ONE MARINE WITH EVERY 2 ARMY GUYS TO KEEP THEM FROM RUNNING AWAY. OH BY THE WAY MY HUSBAND DID 10 YRS IN THE MARINE CORPS AND KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT. DEFEND YOUR SERVICE, BUT WE ALL KNOW WHO IS THE BEST. K?

  29. Resolved Question: Is Michelle Obama a Home Wrecker?
  30. 26 May 2008 at 3:59pm
This is the same question that was asked about Cindy McCain, a few hours before. As a test of Fairness, I want to see how long it takes for the Obama Cry Babies to complain about this question that is being asked about their Marxist Princess. I am a U.S. Marine with a Masters Degree who has served 22 years in the Marines by flying dangerous Helicopter missions, in order to protect the Obama Teeny Boppers. Oh by the way, why did Obama fail to do his military duty, while John McCain did a great Military Service for his Country?. My initial enlistment was just that - I was Enlisted. Why did taxpayers pay for Obama's education with the Racist - Affirmative Action Program. I am not a Bush Fan. However, Bush did serve in the National Guard as a Jet Pilot.

  32. 26 May 2008 at 3:06pm
A vote for McCain is a vote for the same because he has the same intentions that Bush has. He doesn't think the way most of us do. He is a son of an oil heiress. He has never had to work for anything in his life. and Dont you think this is working for something Graduated U.S. Naval Academy, 1958 Earned flight wings, Pensacola, Florida, 1960 Deployed on aircraft carrier U.S.S. 33. Resolved Question: Do I have what it takes to make it into the United States ...
  34. 26 May 2008 at 11:05am
I have been looking into becoming a Marine Officer. I'm just not sure if I'd make a competetive candidate: I'm a sophomore in high school right now. My freshman GPA was 3.8, and my sophomore GPA was 3.6. I was in accelerated classes this year (history and biology) and next year I'll be taking AP English and AP History. I act, sing, and play violin actively at school, as well as running for the spring track team. I work with the School Senate and Government often. Outside of school, I am active in community service, particularly with my church. In the summer I have a job as a camp counselor. I was also appointed to participate in the National Youth Leaders Convention this summer. I am in good physical shape. I plan to join DECA (a business club at school) and Model UN next year. Thank you in advance for your help.

  35. Resolved Question: Previous Drug Addictions Related to Heart Problems?
  36. 26 May 2008 at 4:59am
I recently got out of the Marine Corps (No I never did that when I was in). But before boot camp, I was a typical 15-18 year old who dabbled in everything under the sun, minus needles and freebasing any type of drug. Needless to say, I was a pretty f'd up kid. SO...went into the Marines. Proudly I might add. MY QUESTION IS THIS: I got out for disability for both of my knees after eight years of service. While doing the physical, they found dyspnea of my heart. Where the valve that keeps blood out during the pump, lets about 45% back in. It keeps me from doing a lot of cardio activity. Now I know there is damage to my body from my drug usage, but that is a significant ailment, when it is in a degenerative state. YOUR THOUGHTS? Sorry about the length, I'm detailed. You should see my answers, haha To bad13boy, I did do lots of uppers, but that was back in highshool, like 12 years ago. So, i figured it would have recovered by now. I have dabbled in some "Uppers" every now and again, but in an extremley moderate dosage. Maybe once a year if that. To warscoob, sorry about all the additional details, but I can't comment yet or rate an answer. I do have a cardiologist, he has annotated it as trivial. There is one noted heart disease in my family, my grandfather dieing of heart failure. I inherited a lot of stuff from the good ole family. Baldness and now heart disease? Dang the luck. HAHA, jk

  39. Resolved Question: Would you consider this to be behavior of a hypocrite?
  40. 23 May 2008 at 11:39pm
I'm going to make an extremely long story as short as possible. The guy's name is Robert. All he wants is money (he's 17). He's going into the marines and gets paid double if he is married. So he decides to marry this girl named Kayla. Kayla knows everything. He plans on a divorce as soon as his four years of service are up. Last night he's with this girl named Crystal. I asked him what he did with her and he said he kissed her. He tried to say I slept with my ex, which I didn't, and started calling me a whore. He's had like 20 sex partners in 4 years. He cheats on girls. He lies to girls. He hides his phone from me so I don't see his texts because he tells like 7 different girls he loves them and says he means it. And the worst part of this whole thing is, I'm completely and truly, madly in love with him and I hate myself for it. But that's beside the point. No, I hate drama. I'm about to go crazy with stress.

I am 21 years old. I have 2 years of college behind me but decided it wasn't for me. My parents are trying to force me to either go to the service (Navy, Army, Marines) or live in the projects. What should I do? Because those are not options for me.

  44. 23 May 2008 at 6:24pm
been a long time for me but my question is in the temporary absence of the drill instructor, can the squad leaders reverse a decision the guide made? and this is for the other branches of the service. in your basic training is the guide or guidon bearer the top recruit in charge of the other recruits like in the Marine Corps boot camp?

  45. Resolved Question: Which is better?
  46. 22 May 2008 at 6:40pm
I have to decide which service in the military I am going to join and I have been leaning towards Marines because I want a challenge but my father who was a Marine says that it isnt the best and that you go straight to the front line in war. But which is the best? Marines or Army. In the military, I am going to be in the medical field, if that helps with the question. Most likely a anesthesiologist or coroner.

me and my boyfriend have been dating for 7 years... when our relationship first started we spent every waking moment on the phone together. we could talk to each other about any thing. but for the past eight months we haven't been the same. i feel like we are falling apart as well separating even more than we already are!!! he moved to California about a year ago to be in the service... he's a marine... and we've been engaged since February 14, 2008! he was given a temporary release and he spent it with to ask me to marry him!!! so now i don't know if it's the distance or is it b/c we are growing more and more apart!!!

  57. Resolved Question: Please look at this if you support our troops?
  58. 19 May 2008 at 7:29pm
Marine Sgt. Carmelo Rodriguez had skin cancer and was misdiagnosed by military doctors but because of the Feres Doctrine his family cannot bring up a lawsuit against the Federal government. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/01/31/eveningnews/main3776580.shtml The above is the CBS news story on the Marine and his family. There is a bill being introduced to congress and a website in Sgt. Rodriguez's honor has a template letter which you can easily edit and send to your Senator and/or Representative which if you don't know lists your congressman's contact info. http://carmelofoundation.chipin.com/carmelo-foundation Please at least look at the story and let your congressman know your outrage. Show our servicemen that we appreciate their service to our country by doing this simple task. Please pass this on. God bless America!

  61. Resolved Question: eligible for reenlistment?
  62. 19 May 2008 at 12:11pm
A buddy of mine went to join the Marine Corps and when he was there they found out he had been suicidal when he was about 14 so they sent him to be evaluated by the Navy and they agreed he needed to be discharged and he was given a Entry level seperation for fraudulent entry. He wants to reenlist in another service and he doesnt want to talk to his Marine recruiter about this. So Would he be eligible to reenlist in another branch of the military? and if you need it his reenlistment code is RE-3F

  68. 18 May 2008 at 10:25am
Hi, my name is John and I would like to share you my story. I am a prior service army combat medic and have done 2 tours in iraq (serving for 5 years). I have made friends in the service while we were overseas during our deployments. Most of them told me they joined to proudly serve and for the montgomery G.I. bill (since they lacked funding for college). I can't stress enough how badly these soldiers/sailors/marines wanted to get into college so they could further their education since they would talk about it every other week. They were highly mature, intelligent in their MOS, and had a family to feed. Unfortunately, many of them...did not make it out of the ordeal to come back home which saddens me to this very day. When my obligation for my enlistment was up, I applied to UC San Diego. While moving into the dorming facility, I have noticed many students came from wealthy families (driving a mercedes benz to campus, lui vutton purse, jewelry etc) When the evening comes...it seems that many students do not take college seriously and care about only their social life. Many of the students have told me that their parents are paying for their tuition and enrollment. Throughout the weeks, I am in complete shock...as my fellow comrades died for their country trying to get into where these "party kids" were at. I am not trying to say that all college kids are like that because I am only accusing the ones I have met so far and are just wasting their education opportunity that somebody else that are not financially obligated are working so hard to do so. Don't you think its fair?

  76. 17 May 2008 at 6:32pm
The officer selection office told me while I was signing my contract to undergo Platoon Leaders Course this summer that no matter what branch you join, everyone signs up for 8 years minimum, 3 and a half active, and the rest on reserve. This surprised me (I wasn't expecting so long a commitment). I'm not committed yet until I accept my commission after college graduation (granted I get through PLC). Did the Officer Selection Office lie to me?

  79. Resolved Question: UCMJ legal experts...What is going on here? Is this legal?
  80. 16 May 2008 at 2:02pm
Brief summary of what happened... A Marine gets honorably discharged and while in the IRR he applies to the US Secret Service..During his polygraph exam he admits to taking part in a incident involving the murder of Iraqi civilians.. The Secret Service alerts the Marines and they re-activate this Marine to active duty for the sole purpose of sending him to a court martial.. article... http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/news/2008/03/ap_marine_murder_031808/ My questions are these.. While in the IRR does this mean you dont fall under the UCMJ? And can his words be used against him? And do you think this move by the military was fair? And if he was NOT in the IRR could the Marines still come after this Marine for murder? Is their a statue of limitations in the military? Does this mean that if I have been out of the Marines for 10 years and some Iraqi civilian claims he saw me murder his friend will they come and arrest me? Its unclear who the last sentence of the article is referring to...the other accused is also a SGT..In the article it states he was activated as to allow them to court martial him..and then the last sentence mentions he will go to federal court..I think they are speaking of two different SGT's.. If you still fall under the UCMJ while in the IRR then why did they activate him to active duty?

U.S. MARINES with GUT's for John McCain, the POW and Navy Pilot who is unlike NObama, because of his Patriotism and Military Service for America. Rubicons the Morons, just made the case for Pres. So I join the Marines and go to basic training on Jan 28th things seem to be going well until the end of Feb when I was told by my squadleader that the guide of the platoon went to my senior DI and told lies on me and talks junk and after I heard about this I am put on trial training which means you only got a certain amount of days to correct your defiencies. And everyday that I was on trial training the DI found itty bitty reasons for me to get recycled to another platoon which she told everybody she was going to do that if she didnt like you so I fail everyday for stuff like I didnt see the DI walk to the door so I didnt open it my senior DI says oh failure to follow simple instructions you failed today the next day I didnt sound off which means I didnt say aye ma'am cause I didnt hear the DI say anything I was busy making up my bed my senior says oh you failed again today you didnt open up your mouth and stuff like that. I talk to my platoon members about this and they agree that... give me a few mins to finish the story before you answer. give me a few mins to finish the story before you answer. It was wrong that I was put on trial training out of all the other recruits in my platoon did far worse stuff than I did when really I didnt do anything I was lied on but anyways I was going to get recycled to another platoon and I vowed that if I get recycled I will go home cause Im not going to get recycled for something stupid. Also the guide of the platoon goes and tells everyone in the platoon that I said I was going to kill myself if I get recycled and I did not say that.I was asked about this by six people with very high ranks I tell them no I didnt say that or would ever say such a thing. I get sent to the captain she calls my recruiter and tells him I had failed misarably at trial training which I didnt like her saying that at all and I was going to get recycled.I go to MH and was diagnosed with schizoid which means a personality disorder meaning shyness.A lot of people from higher ranks ask me why im going home and they dont agree with the reason so I know it was wrong. Lavadogg: No this is the full story I wouldnt lie about something like this. Lavadogg: No this is the full story I wouldnt lie about something like this. alltheti: No I got discharged with COG

I'm not sure and stuck on stupid b/c i love him and i feel like I'm keeping a huge secret from him and that it would later ruin our relationship!!! here's the catch my boyfriend is in the service as a marine and if he finds him and hurts him he goes to military prison for life!!!! help me!!!!!

  87. Resolved Question: How much does going into the military help you grow up?
  88. 15 May 2008 at 4:55am
A good friend of mine just got into marine boot camp, in San Diego. I actually got the, "I'm here, I love you. Bye." call yesterday. He didn't want to hear his mom cry, so I got the call. I know he'll stay with this job, he's been getting all the facts he could since Dec when he first approached the recruiter. I'm just wondering how much of a turn around people have made in the military with their lives. Have you seen people change their prospectives on commitment, dedication and self control with people and projects? I'm hoping my friend gets a lot from this experience and turns some of his bad habits around for the sake of himself and the people around him. Also, how long should letters that are sent to boot camp? Should I get his address from his recruiter or wait? I have something I want to talk to him seriously about, should I wait till he's been in longer to confront him about it? Thanks and I'd love stories of people changed by boot or just being in the service.

"Supporters of awarding the Purple Heart to veterans with PTSD believe the move would reduce the stigma that surrounds the disorder and spur more soldiers and Marines to seek help without fear of limiting their careers." Do active service and veterans agree that this idea should really be considered?

  91. Voting Question: Should I join the National Guard? Pros/Cons?
  92. 14 May 2008 at 3:15am
Hey everyone, I am looking into joining the Army National Guard. I will be a junior in college this fall and would like to finish school before I would have to be shipped out or anything like that. Would this be possible? I have an appointment to meet with a recruiter next week. What should I ask him and how do I know if what he is saying is actually truthful and not BS. I want to serve my country, however I know I do not want to make a career out of the military. I want to be able to start my own business after college / go work for a big corporation and start my career there. This is more or less just something I feel I need to do for a couple years. I was thinking about joining the officer program for the Marine Corps, which would be better for the position I am in? How was your experience in the National Guard/ Marine Corps? Please no flamers! No liberals bashing any service please! Please dont make crap up / make up bs! No Agendas! just honest answers please!

  100. 13 May 2008 at 9:16am
An individual I know claims he is still an active duty Marine on a datng website complete with a five year old photo of himself in dress blues. He retired in 2004. He's unemployed scraping by on his pension at age 49, sleeping on an air mattress in a ratty apartment. No woman would give him the time of day if they knew the truth, but that appealing active Marine photo and discussion about his "service" draws women into his trap. (He's also abusive but that's another story). I hate this sort of lying on dating websites and it needs to be stopped. Help me out, knowledgeable veterans. Can I nail him on this one?< >
