  5. Resolved Question: I have a question regarding the homeless?
  6. 31 May 2008 at 1:17am
I see all these people and organizations claiming to care about the homeless problem, but, when you actually contact them for help they tell you to pray or don't even reply. I pray everyday and I am still homeless and living on the streets. They have no problems taking your donations, but, don't want to give anything back to the truly needy. Is there anyone who actually cares? I didn't ask to be homeless, it just happened. I lost my job due to my health, I have tried to find work and no one wants to hire an over-the-hill out of work person with just a high school education. I don't drink or do drugs. Just some really bad luck and pray isn't helping. What can I do? Is there some sort of free training program that a man over 40 can take to get back into being a productive citizen? We can even call it a loan until I can get back on my feet. I really need a job and a safe place to stay. The street is not safe and the shelters are full of thieves and the mentally ill. Can anyone please help Please don't say something insensitive like telling me to sell my computer because the public library computer. Chops, how can I get ahold of you? Your email address is private? Can you please contact me. I really neet your help. Thank you.... I don't want to say anything out of disrespect for the church but they haven't been any help. Please keep in mind. I need more then prayer. I need a safe place to stay and a job. They can't offer me that, they just refer me to the shelter which is a very dangerous place. say whatever you wish. homeless people can have a p.o. box? I used my old address where I no longer live. I take it you don't give a damn about the poor. Maybe when you need help someday someone will treat you the same way. God bless you my friend. Your going to need it more them me... I didn't say I was in the US, did it? Why do you talk to me like I am some sort of liar? Why don't you read the bible. It may do you some good for judging people. Remember we have to be accountable for what we say and how we treat others... Your really a piece of work there David, what do you do by the way? I bet you have a nice life. Perhaps someday your life won't be the same judging by the way you treat others... Say what you will and It will all come back to you... Now I have a question for you? are you male or female or are you just confused about your gender? Now I get it. It must be do to Hormone Imbalance. It happens sometimes in woman. Please, don't take me the wrong way, but you name is David and your icon is a woman. The only reason why I am asking.... Chops if your reading this. I really need that job. If anyone knows how to get ahold of chops. Will you have that member contact me, please. Thank you

  7. Resolved Question: Should Your Job and Education Decide Your Auto Insurance P...
  8. 31 May 2008 at 1:15am
I think this is a form of discrimination, just because someone has a BA doesnt mean that he is a better driver or should get a break on their premiums. I have been driving for over 25 years and have had only 1 minor accident and 1 speeding ticket. I don't even have a certificate of any kind, but I think I have a pretty good driving record, but yet I have to pay a bundle in insurance. I believe that your insurance should be based on your driving record, not on your education. What do you think?

  11. Resolved Question: Does anyone out there LOVE their job? What do you do?
  12. 31 May 2008 at 1:08am
I'm looking for HELP. I want a new career. Does anyone have a job that they really enjoy? I am a high school science teacher and am at the point where I need a sabatical but can't afford to take one. But it's more than that, I feel like I need a new career. I have two degrees, a BA in secondary education (Biology and General Science), and a BS in Human Resources (worked in residential and commercial design). I don't want to do either one. I would like to find something that would utilize my current skills set. Can't afford more classes and I'm not willing to take time away from my 4 year old for more college. I am creative, motivated, artistic, and can manage large projects or minute details. I work well leading a group or would not mind working in solitude (say at a computer). I would love to work from home and can see myself as very productive in that setting. Yeah, I know, I want a dream job. But maybe it's out there and I just need to hear the right idea from you. Thanks in advance

in 2000 offered a $300 tax cut as a bribe during his 2000 campaign, for those who accepted it, did they realize that his offer had strings attached? Did the bush voter realize that by cashing in that $300 check, that they were also agreeing to the following terms?: - their health care costs will double - gas prices will quadruple - food costs will go up by 75% - education costs will rise by 50% - the US dollar will be worth less than the Canadian dollar - $12 billion will be put on America's credit card every month to pay for bush's war in Iraq - the national debt will double to over $9 trillion - that they might lose their homes to the collapsing housing market - the disproportionately large tax break given to the very wealthy will shift the burden of paying off the national debt from the billionaires to the middle class

  27. Resolved Question: Should I change jobs now?
  28. 30 May 2008 at 11:42pm
I have worked for the same company for 16 years. I recently became interested in a different aspect of this industry. I have taken and passed my certification in this field and would like to move into it but that opportunity does not exist at my current job. I am also in the process of studying to take another exam for my mastery level certification. I have been offered a job in my new area of interest. The pay is not a lot more than I make now and the benefits are close to the same. I currently get 23 days of PTO and 9 paid holidays. The new job would bump me back down to 10 PTO days for the first 5 years and tops out at 15 after that. It has 6 paid holidays. Should I change? The new job would give me the chance to move into my new field and grow and learn and open many doors. But I could stay where I am and still continue to learn on my own and get more education. The hours for the new job are better as well. The pay they offer is about 1400 more a year. Help!!!

  36. 30 May 2008 at 11:09pm
Yahoo Hot Jobs sent me a notice of a position for a human resources rep. When I read the job description, I did wonder if it were too good to be true. However, I took a chance and submitted an application and attached my resume. The application asked all kinds of questions such as my cell phone number and carrier, do I want to know about insurance, continuing education, how to improve my credit rating, and such. I gave my cell # as 000-,etc. and listed the carrier as "other," since the application would not continue until that info was provided. After I completed the application, the screen referred me to check the status of my app in 3 days and gave me a user name and password to log in. When I tried to locate the website, Yahoo indicates it may not exist. I probably got bamboozled, but I didn't provide as much info as it really wanted. I figure I'll have really beef up my internet security. What say y'all?

  37. Resolved Question: Graduate School concerns....any help?
  38. 30 May 2008 at 10:58pm
am currently a lower senior in college, majoring in Speech Pathology and doing a double minor, in Early Education and Psychology. My overall g.p.a. is 3.4. It isn't that bad nor that great. My concern is that I won't be able to get into graduate school because of my grades. For a successful career as a speech pathologist I would need a Master's Degree, and I don't think I'll go far with just a Bachelor's Degree. I'm doubting that I'll make it to graduate school because my so far my g.p.a for my major is 2.87, I guess if you round off it would be a 3.0. I'm not done yet, I still need 6 more courses to graduate so I could still improve it. Am I just panicking and being too hard on myself or should I be concerned? Is it that difficult to get into graduate school? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

  39. Resolved Question: Fellow teachers of tough middle school years?
  40. 30 May 2008 at 10:57pm
Do you bring supplies for your girls at school? I am a social worker as well as a sex education teacher when that time of the year comes that they teach it. I alert all my students if they are ever caught unprepared to just come to my room. I have a cabinet in my room that I keep the supplies in. Also, why can't some teachers just ingore PDAs. For example, I always get teachers sending boyfriends and girlfriends down to my office (social worker) because they were holding hands. I hate it because I am forced to inforce a rule I don't like. I can see kissing, even hugging (depending on the type), but not holding hands, or walking with arms around each other. What about you?

  43. Resolved Question: pregnant and depressed?
  44. 30 May 2008 at 10:49pm
I am 26 years old and about 7 weeks pregnant. At first, my boyfriend was happy about the pregnancy. Lately, all we do is fight. Our relationship is getting worse and worse. I don't think we are going to last. I am very depressed. I am in law school and working on getting my education. I NEVER wanted to be a single parent and I was excited about this baby because I thought we would get married next year. Now that I see that this is probably not going to happen, I feel trapped. I don't really believe in aboirtion, but I do NOT want to have this child if we are not together. Plus, my family is already excited about the baby. I am just miserable. I feel unworthy to be a mother. I feel hopeless like my life is over. Any advice?

I know the logical answer is "no" but I've got a few questions and am interested in what other people thought. 1. Whats the difference between poverty in America VS other countrys (poverty rate, living standards)? 2. How much aide is the US government giving to other countries VS how much US government gives to America? 3.Compared to poverty rate today and the past how will poverty be in the future? 4. Poverty VS Education - Does your education backround really have anything to do with being well off, middle class or poor?

  51. Resolved Question: question on general American society and censorship?
  52. 30 May 2008 at 10:42pm
There are several questions in this thing I'm writing. Do you honestly think that the laws we have today are benefiting us? The laws for drinking alcohol are 21 yet we have such easy access to it. There are so many DUI deaths in America. I think more than any country. We place education at a very low place on the priority list. Our society as a culture is so intolerant and ignorant of so many things like homosexuality and race. I admit that even though we've come a long way from slavery the fact that we're dealing with this issue is STUPID. And this whole hooplah on the election. Why can't we choose the presidents the standard way? We all vote for who we want and whoever gets more votes win? I don't understand the logic this country runs on?

One of my friends is persueing a career as a lawyer and I plan on going to medical school. I know i will have to do a residency, but should I be doing internships now?? If so, what type? I want to be a Psychiatrist. I just dont want to get left behind because of lack of knowledge about steps i should be taking.

  57. Resolved Question: Too much student teaching and content tests to be a teache...
  58. 30 May 2008 at 10:38pm
Why are you required to student teach for so long without getting paid? Why do you have to take 2 content tests to become a high school teacher? Why do you have to take so many education classes to become a high school teacher? This is in the state i live in-NM Someone could get an A in everything I just mentioned and still have no idea how to teach a class. I think if they want to control the teacher shortage, we need to change the requirements. Lesson the amount of classes, tests, and student teaching time. If you already have a bachelors degree, I heard that you don't even have to do student teaching in NM. Why would would others have to do student teaching that are working on their bachelors? So illogical. I just don't get it. In my opinion, you have to know the knowlege of the subject you teach, follow the district rules and laws, then begin teaching your own class. I don't understand why student teaching and content test are such a big deal.

Extracurric.: CARE (Community Service Organization) REBEL (Anti-Smoking Student Organization) Student Ambassadors (Leadership Organization) Health/Technology Writer for Student Newspaper Next year, I will be a part of the prestigious student literary magazine. 66. 30 May 2008 at 10:21pm
My cousin's husband came home from the war in Vietnam and he found her in bed with another man and took a gun and killed her and the guy and himself. I am sure it was PTSS. And my nephew's wife as soon as she got her education paid for by Uncle Sam announced she was seeing someone else while he was still in the Airforce. He was heartbroken. I told him she was nothing but a slut and get over it. She used to get those Victoria Secret Magazines's at the house. My sister and I took marker pens and marked out the slutty women. Why do men have to marry Barbie dolls who just cheat on them anyway. They had blonde hair too. Why can't they marry women with some brains and a few brunnettes and one's who'd be faithful. I know brunnettes cheat but have you noticed the majority of women who cheat are dippy blondes?

Yeah, I was abused as a child, sexually, mentally, emotionally; so why can't I help myself. I help others but I pick wrong relationships and I guess I know. It's much easier to be objective and to help others; oh, don't get me wrong, I know wat my shortcomings are. I just don't know how to help myself. I am so co-dependent, and of course I suffer from all the Psychosomatic sh*t that comes along w/it. I'm also a female who's quite intelligent and logical which means...well, whoever reads this and understands exactly wat I mean. I could use some help here, and I'll probly get in trouble for this query Unless u have education and experience in psychology or psychiatry don't bother to comment. OK, that was harsh, but I really need some help here.

  79. Resolved Question: How do I get into Cost Accounting?
  80. 30 May 2008 at 9:07pm
I need any info. on how to get into Cost Accounting. Websites, helpful people, periodicals, books, ANYTHING helpful. What certifications are good, what type of education should I have. ANY INFORMATION at all that is specifically related to getting into Cost Accounting. I am NOT interested in general accounting information. I need information specifically for COST ACCOUNTING. Here is some clarification: I want TO WORK as a cost accountant. I have an associates degree in accounting, and I was looking into getting a bachelor's degree. However, all of the B.S. accounting programs that I have looked into in my state have course listings for several aspects of accounting with only a maximum of 2 cost accounting courses. My opinion is that $20,000 for a hodge-podge of an education is not worth it. I need some tips or guidance on what I can do to get a job as a cost accountant. Or let me know where I could find information on working as a cost accountant.

  91. Resolved Question: How much responsonsibility should the government take?
  92. 30 May 2008 at 8:37pm
It appears that more people are looking to government for assistance for everything under the sun. Anything from foreclosures to health insurance. Why aren't we self sufficient? I'm absolutely happy with my income, and I should NOT be entitled to help someone who carelessly reproduce, and decide not to invest in themselves, obtaining a higher education. And for those who obtained a higher education, did you really think that underwater basket weaving would pay off the 40k in student loans you racked up? The US has provided so much for early success. Where I'm originally from, EVERYONE pays for school, text books, calculators, computers, uniform, school food AND transportation. The basics are taken care of here, so why haven't we taken full advantage of that? Why aren't we successful enough to be able to survive without so much gov't aid? How socialist will we become? I'm not expecting to be liked for these questions, and I'm expecting a lot of answers from the ignorant, so fire away

  95. Resolved Question: education needed to be an optical technician?
  96. 30 May 2008 at 8:26pm
I went to see an ophthamologist today. I was called in from the waiting area and this woman took me into a room and I sat down. She ended up asking me everything about my symptoms and gave me an eye check to see if I was seeing 20/20. She then put some drops in my eyes and used this handheld machine to check for pressure in my eyes. come to find out these drops were to numb my eyes while this machine touched my corneas checking for pressure (to see if they were too soft or too hard). She then put drops in to dialate them. She then used a machine for topography. I then asked her how long she went to school for this. She said she started out being a receptionist and was taken in the back to learn how to do things. A year or two later she said she got certified taking tests. So basically shes allowed to put various drops into people's eyes and using a handheld machine to touch corneas and hasn't even been to school for this? Is this normal in the optical world?

  97. Voting Question: Drivers license?
  98. 30 May 2008 at 8:08pm
I recently finished driver's education in Texas (32 hours) and I have so far completed 1/7 of the actual driving lessons. Sometime between the completion of the classroom learning and the driving lesson, I turned 18 years old. My question is, because i'm 18, will I be able to get my license after the completion and passing of my 7th lesson (also the road test)? Or will I still have to wait 6 months like minors?

  99. Resolved Question: 85% of Americans finished high school. Does that include G...
  100. 30 May 2008 at 8:08pm
I read that the percentage of Americans who have finished high school is 85%. I am curious if that percentage includes people with GEDS. If read up, a GED is not the exact equivalent of a high school diploma. For example, people who have only GEDs have a harder time getting into the military (the Air Force and Marines hardly ever take recruits with only GEDs and the need to score higher on the ASVAB) and they also have a harder time finding employment than people with a high school diploma. If that 85% includes GEDs, what would the percentage be if it did not? What percent of Americans have a real high school diploma or some exact equivalent or more? By that I mean, finished high school, earned an equivalency diploma (like the kind you earn at job corp or through a completion program at a community college) or have a GED but also have some college behind them? In other words what percentage of Americans have no education beyond a GED?< >
